Fall Dinner and Pumpkin Carving

Just sent everyone off for the night, and boy! What a night! Great company, great food, and great pumpkins!

This year I served salad, homemade rolls, mashed sweet potatoes, green beans with bacon, broccoli and cheese casserole, balsamic marinated flank steak with peppercorn gravy and for desert I made a Chocolate eclair cake. Yum!

I always forget to get a picture of everyone sitting at the table, but some good pictures of the pumpkin carving were taken, so I will post those later. For now, off to watch the UFC fight!

Distracted...

So....while I was supposed to be cleaning I had to run to Walmart to get a new belt for our broken vacuum. While at Walmart I just happened to walk down the curtain isle which revealed to me the valances to match the curtains I currently have in our living room. Coincedence? I think not. Divine intervention? Absolutely :P

I also moved some pictures around and reframed one of our honeymoon Haitian pictures (which you can see in the kitchen picture). The frame is a little too small and the picture is cut off a bit, so I need to (at some point, not now) get a more appropriate frame. Not bad though.

On the Road again.....

Well, we are finally home!

Seth and I took off Wednesday through today so we could go to Jacksonville, Florida with his dad and Jen to visit Christian Healing Ministries. What an amazing experience! God is soo good!

After we got home today we joined Reggie & Amy at the North Carolina State Fair! It was a lot of fun! The guys even got a driving test from the nice troopers who were there, lol...I wasn't sure I wanted to ride home with Seth after that!!


Seth even took a stab at the marine challenge and did a mightly fine job! I think he did 14 or 15 pull ups and got a free lanyard :)


Now time to clean the house in preparation for the fall family dinner and pumpkin carving that we are hosting again this year which is taking place tomorrow night. Time to fix the vacuum, Rug Doctor the carpets, dust, etc, etc etc....Want to come help??

What have y'all been up to this week and weekend?

Busy Weekend!

While the moutain man was away, the wife did not play! Well, I did a little ;)

Saturday I worked from 7:45-1 at the office, then powerwashed the front and one side of the house, gave the dogs a bath and started painting the bedroom (I painted a big wall in the living room Friday night). I was exhausted! And, Shelby decided to test to see if the paint on the wall was dry by sitting against it...instead of frosted tips, she had blue tips!

Today was church this AM with my mother-in-law and niece, then home for a little more painting of the bedroom, then back to church to help out with KidSpace from 2:15-4:30, home about 5 with moutain man home about 5:30. He smelled like a campfire and looked like a true moutain man! 30 minute shower and shave later my husband emerged :)

Tomorrow is another day of work and I already know it will be busy. Catch up is not a fun game!

Kanki with the Girls

Xander's mom was in town this week and tonight we had the opportunity to get together for dinner with our other friend Kate and go to Kanki for dinner! Let's just same YUM!!!

And!! Bonus, since we were there before 6 (about 5:45) we got to get the Early Diners Special which had chicken, steak and shrimp all for less than the normal dinner hibachi chicken available after 6. Great deal!

Hiking Hawkeye Hayes

Hiking Hawkeye Hayes has returned and is off to the Pisgah Forest to do what he does best until Sunday. Here are some pictures of my mountain man before he left this morning, ain't he cute!

Seth went skydiving yesterday!!!

That was my birthday present to him last year and yesterday he went! He wasn't really nervous before he went, but said that once he was crammed in that little plane the nerves really set in.

Obviously everything went well otherwise I wouldn't be writing right now :)

Birthday Get-Togethers

Last night we went to Bullfeathers with some friends to celebrate Grace's birthday and what a fun time we had!!! It was so good to see everyone, and the good food didn't hurt either!

After dinner we all headed back to C&M's house for a battle of the sexes game of Catch Phrase. Us girls put up a good fight, but the guys ended up wooping us twice in a row!!! That just means we'll all have to do this again soon so we can beat them next time!
