What do you think of when you see this:

It's a men's wedding band. The exact one my husband had. Yes, I said HAD!
Sunday while eating lunch with some friends my husband suddenly noticed that his wedding band was missing from his finger. He never takes it off, although he does fiddle with it a lot (twisting it on his finger, bringing it up to his knuckle then back), the cool temperatures may have played a factor in its disappearance too, unless maybe it came off in the shower....we are not sure. He can't remember the last time he had it on, but thinks he had it on in church.
Anyway, during the process of realizing the loss, the ensuing search for it, and conclusion that it is gone for good and will need to be replaced I was surprised by how upset I got. It is just a ring after all. An object. But an object that I believe holds a lot of meaning, and defintely has many memories associated with it, specifically the memory of when I placed it on his finger 2 1/2 years ago stating that we would love eachother til death do us part. I am not necessarily mad, but sad. And even if I was mad, I could not be mad at Seth as he didn't lose it on purpose.
What are your thoughts? Has your spouse ever lost their wedding ring? How did it make you feel? Did you feel anything at all?
